Tirana, 2 July 2026 – It was a celebration both on the ground and in the skies today as Wizz Air marked two important milestones in Albania: welcoming its 25 millionth passenger in the country and celebrating six years since the opening of its Tirana base.
The festivities began at Tirana International Airport with a special event attended by Wizz Air representatives, Tirana International Airport officials, media and local influencers before continuing onboard the Tirana - Barcelona flight, where the airline surprised passengers with an unforgettable celebration.
Passengers onboard were treated to special surprises, including hidden Golden Tickets placed in seat pockets, rewarding lucky travelers with vouchers, while the airline's symbolic 25 millionth passenger was also travelling on board, making the journey a truly historic one.
As part of the festivities, Wizz Air is also saying "thank you" to all travelers by offering a 15% discount on selected flights booked between 6 July and 14 December 2026, with the promotion available on 400,000 seats.
Today's celebration also marks six years since Wizz Air established its Tirana base in July 2020. Since then, the airline has grown into Albania's largest carrier, now operating 15 aircraft based in Tirana and a network of more than 61 routes to 19 countries across Europe and beyond, while maintaining the largest market share in the country.

The airline continues to strengthen Albania's connectivity across Europe, most recently celebrating the launch of two exciting new direct routes from Tirana to Palma de Mallorca and Alghero, giving travelers even more opportunities to discover some of the Mediterranean's most popular destinations.
"Today is not only about reaching 25 million passengers; it's about celebrating every traveler who has chosen to fly with us throughout this incredible journey," said Vera Jardan, Corporate Communication Manager at Wizz Air. "Over the last six years, Albania has become one of Wizz Air's most important markets, and we are proud to continue growing together. We wanted this milestone to be more than a ceremony, so we brought the celebration directly onboard and rewarded our passengers with surprises, because they are the reason we are here. And the celebration doesn't stop today - we're inviting even more people to travel with us through our special anniversary promotion. Let's WIZZ!"
Piervittorio Farabbi, Chief Operating Officer of Tirana International Airport, added: "Reaching 25 million passengers together is an extraordinary milestone and another proof of the successful partnership between Tirana International Airport and Wizz Air. Over the past six years, we have witnessed remarkable growth, stronger connectivity and increasing opportunities for travelers. Thanks to Wizz Air's low fares and expanding network, air travel has become more affordable and accessible to more people than ever before. We are proud to celebrate this journey together and look forward to many more milestones in the years ahead."
As one of Albania's longest-standing aviation partners, Wizz Air continues to make travel more accessible and affordable while supporting tourism, economic growth and international connectivity. With an expanding route network, one of Europe's youngest fleets and continuous investment in the Albanian market, Wizz Air remains committed to bringing even more travel opportunities to its customers.
