Tirana, 10 July 2025 – Tirana International Airport (TIA), announced the launch of two new direct routes operated by Transavia: Nantes–Tirana and Bordeaux–Tirana. These seasonal routes further strengthen the partnership between TIA and Transavia and open new opportunities for tourism to and from the French market. The inaugural celebration took place today at Tirana International Airport with the arrival of the first flight from Nantes, symbolically representing the start of both routes. Passengers were greeted with traditional Albanian hospitality, including sweets and a warm welcome by the TIA Ambassadors, while the flight crew received bouquets of flowers. The ceremony continued with a ribbon-cutting moment on the airside, attended by representatives of TIA, Transavia, and invited media.
Both routes will operate twice weekly, every Thursday and Sunday, offering passengers convenient and direct access to two of France’s most culturally vibrant and economically dynamic regions. These new destinations are in addition to the well-established Paris Orly–Tirana route, which Transavia continues to serve with strong performance and consistent demand.
Piervittorio Farabbi, Chief Operating Officer of Tirana International Airport, stated:
“The launch of Nantes and Bordeaux flights by Transavia is a meaningful expansion of our collaboration and a strong indicator of the growing French interest in Albania as a travel destination. These new routes are not only beneficial for tourism, but also for business, culture, and the Albanian diaspora living in France. We are committed to supporting our airline partners in identifying and growing new markets, while continuously improving the passenger experience at TIA.”
Transavia’s growing presence at TIA is aligned with the airport’s broader strategy to enhance Albania’s global reach and improve regional connectivity. In recent years, Tirana International Airport has emerged as one of the fastest-growing airports in Southeast Europe. According to ACI Europe, TIA currently holds the highest rate of air connectivity growth among non-EU countries in the region—a reflection of both market demand and strategic airport development.
