Tirana, September 2026 – Tirana International Airport (TIA) continues to invest in improving its infrastructure and airport services, adding 46 new ground handling vehicles and equipment units at a total investment of €2 million.

The investment aims to support the significant growth in flight and passenger numbers by improving the efficiency of ground operations and, above all, the passenger experience.

The new additions include modern passenger stairs, equipment for loading and unloading baggage from aircraft, baggage tractors for towing baggage carts, pushback vehicles, and baggage belt loaders.

The investment also includes Ground Power Units (GPUs) to supply aircraft with electricity while on the ground, air start units to start aircraft engines, aircraft cleaning service vehicles, and a de-icing vehicle for the winter season, further strengthening the airport’s capacity to operate safely throughout the year.

Through this investment, Tirana International Airport aims to enable faster and more efficient aircraft turnaround processes, from baggage handling to passenger boarding and disembarkation. These improvements directly enhance the quality of service provided to partner airlines and create a better experience for every passenger travelling through TIA.
