Tirana International Airport (TIA) is pleased to announce that British Airways will increase its operating capacity from Tirana for the 2026 summer season, further strengthening the connection between Albania and the United Kingdom. This expansion comes as a result of the growing demand for travel to Tirana and TIA’s increasingly important role as a developing aviation hub in the region.

British Airways will be increasing its flying schedule to a total of 13 flights per week from April 2026, the start of the airline’s summer season. This marks a 44 per cent increase in frequency compared to the same period in 2025.

This development comes at a time when TIA is undergoing extensive infrastructural transformation. Under the leadership of Kastrati Group, the airport is expanding its terminal capacity, adding new aircraft parking positions, introducing advanced digital technologies, and implementing systems that improve speed and efficiency for passengers. These investments aim to support growing traffic volumes and ensure a modern and high-quality travel experience.

The increase in flight frequency from British Airways has been carefully optimised to provide passengers with more travel opportunities, not only to the United Kingdom but also for onward connections to North America, one of the most popular markets for travelers from Albania and the Western Balkans.

Piervittorio Farabbi, TIA’s Chief Operations Officer, stated:

“British Airways, one of the world’s most prestigious airlines, is a key partner for the Albanian market. The expansion of operations at TIA demonstrates the airline’s commitment to providing reliable connections, high service standards, and an extensive network of destinations for passengers traveling to and from Albania. We are pleased that TIA is now recognized as an airport that strengthens Albania’s international links and attracts elite global aviation operators.”

British Airways’ Chief Planning and Strategy Officer, Neil Chernoff, said: “Tirana is a destination we know our customers love, and we’re delighted to build on that demand by increasing flights for the 2026 summer season.

“Whether customers are travelling for business, enjoying a well-earned holiday or connecting with loved ones, these additional services will make it even easier to experience everything Albania has to offer.”

Tirana International Airport remains committed to expanding collaborations with airline partners, continuously improving the passenger experience, and reinforcing Albania’s position on the international aviation map. With strategic investments, modern technology, and a clear development vision, TIA is becoming one of the most dynamic and fast-growing airports in the region.
