Restaurant Flore

Flore was previously Bord'eau, but took on the change in 2021. With two Michelin stars, an award-winning wine list and a spectacular canalside location.

This is special-occasion dining at its finest.

Executive chef Bas van Kranen’s fixed veg-led menus focus on showcasing top-notch local ingredients through

simple , but innovative flavour combinations and elegant plating.

The service is amazing, the setting classy but unfussy.

Reservations are a must.

BAK Restaurant

What started as a pop-up restaurant has become a go-to destination in Amsterdam’s former lumber port.

After climbing the wooden stairs to the third floor of an old warehouse, you’ll step into a minimalist whitewashed room with huge windows overlooking the River IJ.

BAK was originally a vegetarian restaurant, and while the set menus now incorporate local meat and fish, veg is still the star of the show.

Kaagman & Kortekaas

Local foodies have been faithfully placed in the hands of chef Giel Kaagman and sommelier and host Bram Kortekaas since 2015.

Their restaurant is located in a stunning alley in the heart of the Palace District,

where multiple levels arranged around a sunken kitchen allow a few lucky diners to feel like they're in on the action.

Kaagman & Kortekaas is known for its high-end dining, nose to tail,

in a casual space where the chef's regularly changing menus keep things fresh. Usually, there are homemade foods.

De Kas

If you're looking for the best, freshest, beautifully cooked produce, then a trip to De Kas is a must.

Housed within a cluster of greenhouses dating back to 1926, they serve a daily set menu

You simply choose how many courses you want prepared with vegetables and herbs grown in their nursery.

Their farm-to-table credentials and dishes showcase each ingredient at its best.

Troef

At Troef, you are in the right place for fine dining and wines.

The latter, you can choose for yourself in their wine room, which contains more than 3,000 bottles.

Interestingly, these wines do not match the menu, but are based on what the owners enjoy.

As for dinner, Restaurant Troef offers a mix of French and Italian cuisine, leading to plenty of choice.

Shrimp cocktail, Panzanella salad, or maybe pan-seared langoustine?

Rijsel French-Flemish

When you're craving incredible rotisserie chicken, head to this Franco-Flemish restaurant by the Amstel River.

Housed in a former domestic science school, it's a no-frills space with an open kitchen.

The menu changes daily but always features classic French bistro fare.

This is a local favorite that is always packed, so book in advance.

Klein Breda

Near Rembrandtplein, you'll find this two-story restaurant that focuses on seasonal dishes and grilled meat and fish.

Dinner is served as a three, four or five course menu.

Formerly called Guts & Glory, this long narrow room changed its theme with a new 'chapter' each season.

Now, Klein Breda has settled on an ingredient-led menu rather than a quarterly concept—though the inventiveness remains.

Cradam

There are few better places to get stuck into seafood and pub classics than at Cradam, a 19th-century cave monument.

This former water pumping station now pumps out sumptuous seafood dishes and bar food,

like mayo and steaks for fans of all ages (there's even a children's menu).

If it's sunny, order some chilled white wine and grab a seat on the terrace.

The Cottage

If you find yourself craving a roast, head to The Cottage for a hearty plate of meat, veg and Yorkshire pudding.

Although the owners are Dutch, they have mastered British classics such as sausage rolls and shepherd's pie

including many vegetarian options.

The pastries are good, but the homemade orange and cardamom jam takes them to another level.

Don't miss the triple gingerbread cake for dessert.

Pesca

Have you ever been to a 'fish theater'? We're guessing not.

But what exactly does this mean?

On arrival at Pesca, staff offer a glass of champagne to enjoy as you peruse the catch of the day - cod, mussels, octopus, scallops - laid out in style on ice.

Once you've made your choice, drinks and drinks are added, you grab a table and wait for a plate of fish cooked to perfection.

The dynamic atmosphere of the restourant makes it the ideal starting point for a night on the town.
