Pegasus Airlines launches new route to Tirana

- Pegasus will run five times a week to Tirana from Istanbul’s Sabiha Gokcen
- Passengers will fly on board a Boeing 737-800 aircraft

On September 2nd 2013, the leading Turkish low-cost carrier Pegasus Airlines launches a new route to Tirana flying into and out of Tirana International Airport (TIA). The service will operate five times a week from Istanbul’s Sabiha Gokcen airport.

On Mondays and Thursdays, the flight will leave Istanbul at 14:50 hrs and return from Tirana at 16:15 hrs, while on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays will depart at 10:15, returning at 11:40. The carrier will use a Boeing 737-800 aircraft for the route.
“We believe that Pegasus will become a good connection for Albanians traveling beyond Turkey, including flights to Europe–Amsterdam, Berlin, Cologne, Copenhagen, London and elsewhere–at reasonable prices. We are pleased to welcome this airline to Tirana and we extend to Pegasus the wishes for success with the new route,” said Mr Rolf Castro-Vasquez, Chief Executive Officer of TIA.

Pegasus will fly from Tirana to 25 destinations beyond Turkey, including Almaty, Amsterdam, Baku, Beirut, Berlin, Bishkek, Bucharest, Cologne, Copenhagen, Doha, Donetsk, Dubai, Kharkiv, Krasnodar, London, Marseilles, North Cyprus (Ercan), Nuremberg, Omsk, Skopje, St Etienne / Lyon, Stockholm, Tbilisi, Tehran and Tel Aviv.

Pegasus is based at Sabiha Gokcen airport and flies to Europe, the Middle East, Russia and the Caucasus with a total of 72 destinations in 30 countries, 43 of which are outside of Turkey.
TIA is continuously working to attract new airlines to enter the Albanian market. In May 2013, ArkeFly, the Dutch leisure airline of TUI Group, introduced a new summer service into the country, with a direct flight between Amsterdam and TIA. This route carried many foreign tourists to the country who explored its historical sites and long sandy beaches.
